Randall MTS modular preamps
An amp with a swappable preamp section? Yes! The Randall MTS series amp module comes in a wide range of amp sounds; the modules are easily inserted into Randall's RM4 preamp, RM combos and RM heads, ready to play within seconds. Tones range from clean sound to high-gain distortion; there are also modules based on Vox, Marshall Plexi, Super Lead and other sought-after sounds. Two thumbscrews allow simple insertion and removal, and the two tubes per preamp are user-replaceable.

Sorry to hear you're having such a problem. I've had mine for over 2.5 yrs and it rocks. I have 6 preamp mods for it. I've replaced 1 Ruby tube.....The beauty of this amp is that I can replace only one instead of a pair. The bias adjustment on the back makes all individual tubes a balanced pair.

I wonder what kind of problems you're having (you don't say)?

PROMO GIRLS: You're watching Gearwire.Com. [LAUGHING]

DOUG REYNOLDS: Hi. My name is Doug Reynolds. I’m the Randall Division Manager for U.S. Music Corp. and today we’re going to show you the revolutionary modular tube system, which has been on the market for about two-and-a-half to three years, but it’s really a full line at this point. We got a full line of products.

This is a preamp circuit which is all analog, [INDISCERNIBLE] set tube. What this allows you to do is basically plug in any combination of tones that you want in an amplifier. These twos specific models are this is a 50-watt that holds one preamp module. This is a 50-watt that holds two preamp modules. Basically, to get what tone you want, you unscrew the two thumbscrews, simply pull it out. This happens to be a Top Boost module which is modeled after a Vox. This our Clean module which is an original tone of ours. Simply slide it in. Within five seconds after the tube warms up, you’ve got a brand-new unique tone that’s 100% tube. It kind of gives you the flexibility of digital amplifiers but allowing the format of having 100% analog.

Each model we have, currently we have 18 different tube preamp modules. Each one of them has the same basic layout control on it. It has a gain, bass, middle, treble, level control, and then they also have a bright switch. Each bright switch is different depending on the original early models. What we have are preamp circuits of old Fenders, Marshalls, Voxes, a bunch of our own originals, and then we also have new signature models as well, the George Lynch and Dan Donegan of Disturbed and [INDISCERNIBLE] and so there’s 18 different plugins. that can be plugged into any size of amp that you want. So, it’s the ultimate flexibility.
