Quasimidi Rave-O-Lution 309: Living Life To The Legato
In this installment of DJ Puzzle Jason Donnelly's look at the Quasimidi Rave-O-Lution 309, Jason shows how to use the glide function. The glide function is one of the features that brings a heavy TB-303 influence into the Rave-O-Lution 309. It gives your notes a legato feel.
JASON DONNELLY: In this segment, I’d like to show how this piece emulates the sequencer in the 303 by adding glide to the individual notes so that, you know, they’re not short staccato. They’re sort of they glide. They legato, they’re very legato and they glide into each other, and the best way to really understand how that sounds is to just demonstrate it for you, so.

What we’re going to do is let’s go ahead and hit record, pattern mode, scroll to step record. Over here, you have your gate time. These four buttons represent different gate times. It’s from shorter to longer to glide, the very last one for glide. Now, let’s see the difference.

I’m going to add some extra notes so you can --

Notice how it’s gliding into --

Glide. So, you can hit glide per step, basically telling it which notes you want it to glide to. So, I’m going to go to step 2 and hit glide. We’ve already done that, and then hit glide on right before step 7. Glide. Step 7 glide.

Glide. Basically, everywhere where there’s a note, I’m going to glide. Hit glide.

Let me take that out first. It sounds a little better there.

So there you have it. That’s the --

That’s the glide feature. Now, we have a totally different groove going on that.

I’m going to adjust the glide here with the glide knob. Adjust that to your desired level of glide, just scrolling through my sound to just --

So there you have it, using the glide feature on your bass/lead.
