Pro Tone Raven Chorus Stompbox: You Read About It Here First

July 06, 2007
Pro Tone Paul Raven Chorus
Gearwire featured a look at the Paul Raven Signature Dirty Chorus earlier this year. Now, Pro Tone pedals has made it official, the Pro Tone Raven Dirty Chorus is the newest addition to the Pro Tone family of stompboxes. The Raven Dirty Chorus is basically a chorus effect followed by a fuzz circuit. You can also modify the sound with a "slurred vibrato". Pro Tone's Dennis Mollan says this stompbox is great for industrial musicians, but also for anyone who wants to add some analog variety to their effects rig.

Paul Raven likes to record his own effects using one channel "dry" and one "dirty" channel. In the mixing phase, Raven runs the signal through an SVT 8X10 cabinet, using a 60/40 mix of speaker and direct signal.

Paul Raven has been involved with Killing Joke, Prong, Ministry, and too many others to mention here. You can check out Gearwire interview with Pro Tone's Dennis Mollan to read how Gearwire's Patrick Ogle got the evolution of the pedal. You can also read Patrick Ogle's interview with Paul Raven on working with Ministry, Pigface, and many other industrial music giants.

Joe Wallace is Gearwire's Managing Editor. He does not wear eyeliner, unlike some of the REST of the Gearwire staff.
