Rayzoon BonzoPak: Bohnam Inspired Sample Kit Neither Dazing Nor Confusing

March 25, 2008
Rayzoon BonzoPak

Though they fall barely short of coming right out and saying it, Jamzoon's new BonzoPak pays pretty obvious tribute to John Bonham by aiming to reproduce his fat kit sound. Recorded on a Ludwig Maple kit with familiar head selection and tuning as well as all Paiste cymbals, BonzoPak will recall the tone of whale-sized drum solos.

The Ludwig kit was also played with mallets and again without snare wires. To get such a big sound, Rayzoon used a 17' high recording room for the samples. For a frame of reference, imagine two Yao Mings standing one on top of the other with one Vern Troyer stacked on both. That's a lot of ambient room space, but it can all be adjusted for a tighter, drier sound.

BonzoPak also includes many Jamstix styles. These are fully combinable. More features include:

  • 990MB of Ludwig Maple drums and Paiste 2002 cymbals
  • Up to seven velocity layers with three alternate hits per layer
  • Up to five degrees of hi-hat openness
  • Recorded in a 17' high room for massive (but always adjustable) ambience
  • Includes stick-played kit as well as a mallet-played kits
  • Single output and multi-output kits with ready-to-go Jamstix EQ and compression settings
  • Can be used with any other Jamstix 2 style, e-drumkits or traditionally via MIDI by the host
  • Includes 10 new Jamstix styles modeled after famous rhythms of the 70s
