Roland GR-20: Surveying The Worth Of Installing A MIDI Pickup On Your Guitar

March 21, 2008
Roland GR-20

With only one permanent guitar in Gearwire Studio, we were apprehensive to permanently alter anything, so Bob DiFazio temporarily set-up a Roland GR-20 MIDI pickup. Check out his video as Bob gives an encompassing overview on Roland's MIDI system.

Stompbox effects and multieffects are great, but MIDI takes guitar even further from tradition, and its really not as daunting to install as you may think.

Guitar synth units

By: Joe Todd

Just about everyone that I know that has owned a guitar synth unit says that they're slow in tracking and the sensitivity isn't good enough.
Well I beg to differ because I own on of the older Roland units (it's purple and I can't think of the model number).
I am by know means slow and can keep up with most of the greats so I don't Know what They are talking about.
I use my synth unit often and sometimes I have taken the place of the keyboard players all together.
Maybe if you added an instructional video cd or an online tutourial note with the purchase this may change.
I love the units and will be buying another one soon.
