New Roland MC-808: urge to move narrowly, mercifully avoided
May 12, 2006
When Roland showed off its new MC-808 Sampling Groovebox, some of us were gripped by a sudden inclination to throw down, bust out, and otherwise intiate some moves. However, considering the collective repertoire of those in attendence (think "truffle shuffle," "sprinkler," "butter churn"--yeah, you get the idea), it was probably best that we managed to supress the urge.
Moves aside, the MC-808 looks pretty tasty. Features include 128-voice polyphony, motorized faders, editing software for tweaking patches and samples.
