Rotosound Super Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings: Totally Hard-Core
These might in fact be your dad's guitar strings. Not that that would make the Rotosound Super Bronze Acoustic Strings any less cutting edge.
Originally introduced back in 1974, these are pretty much (as far as we know) the only acoustic guitar strings that implement what Rotosound calls 'contact core' design—the windings on the four lowest strings stop short of the bridge, allowing the solid core of the strings to contact your guitar's saddle directly. According to Rotosound, this design helps increase sustain, projects a brighter sound, increases overall volume, and slightly lowers the action on the wound strings.
The relaunch of the Super Bronze contact core acoustic strings means the classic design now benefits from Rotosounds' modern manufacturing techniques and stricter quality control tolerances—not that we're casting aspersion on the manufacturing techniques of the 70's. That was a rough time for everyone.
The strings are formulated from Phosphor Bronze, further accentuating their brilliance and volume. Super Bronzes are available in six-string sets only in the following gauges, where 'w' denotes the wound strings:
- SB10 10 / 14 / 20w / 28w / 40w / 50w
- SB11 11 / 15 / 22w / 30w / 42w / 52w
- SB12 12 / 16 / 24w / 32w / 44w / 54w
