Sabian Vault Artisan Hi-Hats: Hats Off To A New Line Of Hi-Hats

June 23, 2009
Sabian Vault Artisan Hi-Hats

Dark, dry, and complex: three qualities that drummers look for in their hi-hats for increased versatility and clarity of tonal color. Being one of the most important time-keeping pieces in a drum kit, a clear and dry hi-hat sound with great sticking response is vital to any drum kit or to any band sound. In response to these needs as well as bring a new flavor to the Vault series, the Sabian Vault Artisan Hi-Hats have been introduced. . . or rather, buried. 100 artisan vault hi-hats are being buried (somewhere in Canada) and are now available for presale.

The Sabian Vault Artisan Hi-Hats have two components: a medium top and a heavy bottom. The two described components feature a high-density hand-hammered and innovative touch to deliver that dark, dry, and complex traditional tone and a great sticking response. Available in 13"-, 14"-, and 15"-sets, each set maintains that distinct Vault Artisan tone while exhibiting various characteristics. The 13" set is tighter and more defined, which is great for some forms of pop and rock. The 15" set has a slushier, deeper, and fatter sound, which is ideal for more subtle sounds such as featured in jazz. The 14" set, while being a compromise between the 13" and 15" sets, delivers that combination of soft, warm sticking and pedal response making it an all-purpose hat.
