Sennheiser 700mHz Wireless Trade-In Rebate Program: Plans For The Banned Band
Feeling like a dope for not keeping up with developments related to the White Spaces reapportionment? Don't get so down on yourself: that stuff wasn't easy to process, and besides, Sennheiser is offering a generous trade-in rebate program for systems that operate in the now-restricted 700 mHz range. Isn't that nice of them?
The rebate program operates on a tiered system, an incorporates not only the more recent G2 series products, but older and even other manufacturer's 700 mHz band systems as well.
Full details can be found on Sennheiser's website, but basically, to receive a rebate, users must purchase new Sennheiser systems and components in an alternate range and trade-in an equal number of old wireless systems or components (including non-Sennheiser brands) that currently operate in frequencies between 698 - 806 MHz. The maximum rebate available is $1,400 for G2 systems purchased after December 2007, to a simple flate rebate for the oldest and non-Sennheiser systems.
If you've got one of the frequency-agile 3000 or 5000 Series systems, users should call the Sennheiser Re-Tuning Service Hotline (seriously) at 1.860.434.9190. In addition to the "cost-effective" re-tuning pricing (huh?), Sennheiser is also offering rebates of $500.00 per channel ($1,000 for dual channel systems) for upgrades to the latest 3000 and 5000 series White-Spaces-Compliant components.
The rebate program will continue through most of the coming year; any mail-in claim must be postmarked no later than December 15, 2009. Again, see Sennheiser.com for full details on the tiered rebate program.
