Sennheiser e609 Silver And Shure SM57 Compare Frequency Responses, Tattoos, Stories About Exes
August 05, 2008
The Sennheiser e609 Silver may look like a very different microphone from the Shure SM57, but as the old adage goes, "you need to compare the frequency response charts of each mic and listen to them side by side in a controlled context." I believe that one was from Plutarch.
As you can hear, there are only very subtle differences between the two mics, though this may be the point: the smaller, side-address e609 can easily perch above rack toms and needs no stand when slung over a guitar amp, while delivering a tone any live tech will be familiar with.

another good video on gearwire? what's going on here?! you guys are going against your normal crappy content and actually putting up something worthwhile. oh wait, here's another DJ Puzzle video. Ok, thanks guys.
Subtle Difference?
Subtle Difference. NOT!!!
SM57 win's hand's down.
that other mic was top endy and brittle,
the SM57 was booming and thick.
609 vs sm57
I have both mics in my studio that I use to track guitars. I've also compared the 2 side by side and the diffrences between them is subtle. But if I had to pick only one to work with I'll take the 609 anyday over the 57. The 57 does have this very nasal quality to it. 609 has a nice bright and clear thing to it. I feel the 609 is more accurate at delivering the actual sound of your amp. Wether its live through a PA or recording. I just want to see someone compare the 2 against the new BLue EnCore mics that just came out.
2 outta three re: your request
We don;t have the 609 in house any more, but we did just get an Encore 100. Expect a few comparison videos soon.
