Sennheiser MKE 1 Clip-On Microphone Wears Many Caps
Gearing up for the 125th AES Convention in San Francisco, Sennheiser has some very tiny news concerning the MKE 1, they're latest pro-quality clip-on microphone. It boasts a capsule that's about the size of a matchhead. Despite is size, field test shows the MKE 1 excels at providing a "clear and present treble" -- like that one Harrison Ford movie about that Colombian drug cartel and their overuse of subwoofers.
Sennheiser took serious consideration to ensure that the mic capsule was fully shielded from moisture, so there are no worries taking it out into the field when reporting in extreme conditions, or even in X-TREME conditions. To prove that they don't negotiate with moisture terrorists, Sennheiser provides a multi-purpose cap that diverts humidity past the microphone and moonlights as a windshield. If some rogue H2O does make its way into the mic, another layer of protection is provided by an acoustically open stainless steel membrane.
Sennheiser has also strengthened the quality of the anti-kink sleeve to prolong the life of the Kevlar reinforced cable. The 1mm diameter cable also holds strong against handling noise and tangles.
Hey, remember that multi-purpose cap I had mentioned earlier? The MKE 1 also comes tih a small frequency response cap that boosts treble even more than the multi-purpose cap. If you're concealing a mic for hidden camera investigation or just need more brilliance, pop this cap in the microphone's &!†ç#-@$$! Still not enough caps for you? Sennheiser throws in three make-up protection caps, too.
The MKE 1 comes in beige and black to match your color scheme. It comes with a three-pin plug that fits Sennheiser's SK 5212, SK 5012, SK 250, SK 50 and SK 3063 wireless body-pack transmitters and an unterminated cable for other transmitters.
