Shadow Hills Gama: A Microphone Preamp For All Seasons According To Robert McDowell (Audio)
Robert McDowell of Manchester Orchestra recently bought a couple Shadow Hills GAMAs, mono pre-amps that fit into the API 500 series "lunchbox" chassis. The GAMAs are built around Shadow Hills' custom discrete op-amp, and feature switchable input transformers for a wide variety of tonal possibilities. McDowell cannot say enough nice things about these little pres that could (and can, and have).
Robert likes them with drums and vocals and even with green eggs and ham. One of the most important things that inspire his love of the Shadow Hills GAMA is their cost–about a grand each. Have a listen for all the ways you can use the Shadow Hills GAMA.
