SM Pro Audio CT-3 Cable Tester: Salute Your Shorts
Why is this man so happy? Is it because he's being interviewed by Gearwire, the internet's ABSOLUTE FAVORITE SOURCE FOR TRADE SHOW COVERAGE? More likely it's the product he's holding -- and no, I'm not talking about hair products (A HA HA HAHA!!!!). The affable Danny is in Anaheim to talk about the new SM Pro Audio CT-3 cable tester.
And why does this cable tester make Danny so giddy? Maybe it's the fact that the CT-3 can split into two components to test wires that are part of an installation. Save money by not demolishing your studio's interior walls every time there's a cable short!
DANNY OLESH: Hi. I'm Danny Olesh from SM Pro Audio. This is NAMM 2009. Again, it's every day that for the last few days. This is my favorite product in the stands today. This is the mega cable tester, the CT-3. It's an awesome piece of machinery. It has all the type of connectors that you want: DMA, there's a speakon, XLR, MIDI DIN5 pin, and Cat5 connectors, RJ15 connectors, mini-jack, 1/4" TRS, BNC, RCA, as well as the standard cable tester for wires or a continuity tester as well so you can even test globes with it.
Now, this is fine but what happens if your cable is actually inside a wall that you can't get into both sides? That's where the CT-3 really excels because it is the only audio cable tester that can be split in two where you have a sender on one end, and it could be 1 km on end, and you can see exactly what's the problem with your cable if there's any shorts, what pins are working, and what pins are not working. An amazing accessory that practically every person would want to have one in their pocket. Well, not quite in their pocket but in their car at least to carry with them in case they exhibit a problem.
