SM Pro Audio MPatch 2.1 Passive Volume Controller / Monitor Switcher Introduced At NAMM
Australian manufacturer SM Pro Audio has announced the MPatch 2.1 ($249.99 MSRP), a passive volume control / monitor switcher that provides true passive analog control over studio monitoring systems.
The MPatch 2.1 is said to eliminate the loss of bit-depth associated with digital attenuation. It features dual inputs with independent volume controls, a redesigned master attenuator that uses 0.5 percent tolerance SMD resistors, a headphone output with separate volume control, and a subwoofer output with variable crossover.
Designed for desktop or rackmount use, the MPatch 2.1 has both balanced combination XLR / 1/4-inch TRS and unbalanced RCA inputs, as well as input selection, mute, stereo / mono summing operation, and front-panel accessible subwoofer in / out. The MPatch 2.1 also features switches that mute either the subwoofer or the L/R mains, and a rear-panel jack that allows the subwoofer to be muted via a remote control switch.
The MPatch 2.1 accepts dual stereo signals from virtually any source, including computer audio interfaces, mixers, mic preamps, CD players, and so forth, allowing you to perform a variety of level-matching, mixing, monitoring, and volume control functions without adding any coloration or noise.
