SM Pro Audio P-Control Variable Phase Control: Nature's Oxytrol
Thankfully there are plenty of bathrooms at the Anaheim Convention Centre, but even if there weren't, SM Pro Audio releases P-Control at Winter NAMM 2009. Unfortunately for the weak of bladder, this unit is a variable phase controller.
The P-Control is designed to fix audio signal phase problems, offering a transparent way to improve your recordings when combining audio from similar signal sources. The P-Control gets your phase problems ironed out via extensive controls on the front panel and switchable transformer balanced isolation -- a super justice team that has phasing do-no-gooders cowering in fear.
Many questers have aimed for the combination of two signals for that fat tone -- and I'm talking McGuire twins fat tone -- chances are you've run into problems graver than being chased by quarter-ton twins on motorcycles. You've run into phase inconsistencies. Insert the P-Control in-line or via the insert bus with balanced XLR cables and you can manupulate the phase of the connected audio up to 180 degrees. It's just a very easy adjustment made on the large format rotary encoder.
So even someone who doesn't even know what phase adjustment means can operate it so long as they can turn a knob. Of course, that's not the only feature -- the unit has bypass, low-cut filter and phase reverse switches alongside output level control and VU meters.
Fast Features:
- Combine two microphone signals and correct the audio phase
- Combine two sound sources with corrected phase -- eg. microphone and direct instrument feed
- Line level operation -- Connects via channel inserts on the mixing console or in-line
- Great for keyboards, guitars, and bass
- A must have tool for recording and live performance
- Bypass, Low-cut filter, Phase reverse, GND pin, level, and VU meter provided
- Switchable transformer balanced output
