SM Pro Audio The Mic Thing Will Isolate Your Microphone
Possibly a distant cousin of Swamp Thing, SM Pro Audio's new The Mic Thing is out, and it plans to invade home studios everywhere. It is a portable, multi-purpose acoustic treatment panel that helps isolate your microphone and control unwanted room noise from your vocal track.
When bleeding noise is out of the picture, users have a cleaner recording and more control over the end result. The Mic Thing mounts onto any mic, drum, or speaker stand with a diameter of up to an inch. It's winged panels can also be adjusted from a flat planar absorber to a tight semi-circle around the microphone.
Tightening the wing panels around the microphone brings greater isolation and a dryer sound. Changing the mic's positioning within the panels will also change your sound a bit. Two metal reflection grilles are also included in case The Mic Thing has more of an effect on your sound than you would like.
