SM Pro Audio V-Machines: Hi-Ho, The Derry-O, The VST Hardware Stands Alone
After developing their "Powered by VFX" embedded technology platform, SM Pro Audio introduces V-Machines at Musikmesse. The V-Macines include the V-Box, V-Rack and V-Pedal giving musicians three hardware setups to house VST plug-ins for live use.
All three of the V-Machines come with control configuration software that works with Windows, Mac OS X and even Linux systems. These units allow users to transfer all of their favorite VST presets onto any of the V-Machines for use without a computer.

The V-Box module is a compact VST / VSTi hardware playback module designed with keyboard players and DJs in mind. You can combine your plug-ins into chains, splits and layers for a number of interesting sounds. Hook this up to a MIDI controller, and you're granted instant access to virtual dials, switches and faders.

The V-Pedal is a floorboard unit designed for guitarists. It has both mic and line inputs, programmable stomp switches and rotary encoders, TFT display, an expression pedal and more. If you'd rather take a virtual rig on the road than drag an amp around but realize how silly you'd look with your guitar plugged into a laptop on stage, this is a happy medium.

The V-Rack gives you everything you'd get with the V-Box plus a pair of balanced stereo inputs and several pairs of balanced outputs. It's more at home in the studio as it boasts high-end AD/DA converters. Use it as an outboard effects unit, multiple output synth module or even as a mastering unit.
