Equalizers have always been foundational to audio processing. Everything from emphasizing various frequencies to creating modulation-based effects all have their basis on EQ. Despite being basic, each EQ unit displays various characters distinct from one another, and Softube is emphasizing this fact as they are now shipping the new Passive-Active Pack.

The Passive-Active Pack is a collection of three distinct equalizers. Being emulations of real workhorse equalizers being used on thousands of recordings from past to present, the Passive-Active Pack brings in that touch that has been loved (or hated) by listeners from various decades. The Passive Equalizer is a three-band EQ with an unprecedented clear and open sound, a warm low end and sparkling top. Being a rather opposing or complementary counterpart, Active Equalizer has three fully parametric bands and a tight and focused sound. The oddball of the package, Focusing Equalizer is anything but traditional where the low, mid and high bands move automatically and musically in relation to the high- and low-cut filters. Focusing Equalizer also has filters from the Passive and Active EQ's as well as an outstanding one-knob Saturation control.

You may then ask, "Why would I use equalizers that only have three bands when I can have those EQs that have more?" For simplicity's sake of course. With their design, the Passive-Active Pack has already cut out a lot of work for you. Working with only three bands offers a faster result as some of the choices you could have been making with other EQs that have for or more bands have already been made. It's as if you're working with a sound designer which will allow you to focus on your music more.
