Solid State Logic Remote Control For X-Patch: Wi-Fi Remote Control For X-Patch Patchbay

July 06, 2010
Solid State Logic Remote Control For X-Patch is a new iPhone app that controls the X-Patch patchbay remotely over wi-fi.

If attending to your patchbay up close is too much effort for you, then sit back and control it from afar with the Solid State Logic (SSL) Remote Control For X-Patch iPhone app. The new application, the company's first app ever, turns one's Apple iPhone into a wi-fi remote control for SSL's X-Patch software-controlled analog patchbay. The Remote Control For X-Patch is now available as a free download from the iTunes App Store.

How does it work? The X-Patch Remote Control searches a network over wi-fi for SSL's X-Patch devices. If your X-Patch is connected to a wi-fi network, the Remote Control enables selection and recall of individual stored Logictivity Presets. There are up to 128 presets per X-Patch found, and where more than one X-Patch is found, each device can be independently selected and controlled.

SSL's X-Patch is a software controlled analog patchbay designed to deliver the flexibility of plugin-style routing to boutique analog signal processors. X-Patch allows analog signal processing units to be built into processing chains and then be placed easily into signal paths. For example, your choice of mic preamp, EQ, and dynamics processors can be recalled as the perfect vocal chain at a single stroke, according to the manufacturer.

In short, X-Patch is an "intelligent" 16 x 16 SuperAnalogue audio routing matrix. At the heart of the X-Patch is the Logictivity Browser graphical interface, which makes it possible to create X-Y routes and chains with all configurations and save them as presets.

In a studio environment, notes SSL, X-Patch speeds up workflow and reduces the need for constant physical re-patching. Each X-Patch unit also has local MIDI I/O for connection to footswitches and other utility MIDI program change devices.

  • Inserts analog processors into production workflow like plugins
  • Suited to studio production and live performance applications
