Keep Your Tracks Aligned With Sonar's Delay Compensation

Sonar Delay Compensation

In some previous videos Dan found the UAD plug-ins unfit for parallel compression due to the amount of delay they would introduce to the signal running through them. GW commentator Billy Buck helped solve the problem and now this video shows exactly how you too can run these plugs with complete delay compensation. Of course Dan uses Sonar 6 in this video and there are a couple of things that are a bit quirky which reportedly have been fixed in Sonar version 7.01.

Stay tuned for the next video regarding the delay issues of the UAD effects inside of Sonar 7.

with delay compensation enabled. sonar cant make your plugin(s) look ahead and start earlier than your audio. so it puts a delay on all audio to match the delay of your slowest plugin. hence when you apply a plugin while audio is playing, since sonar isnt a time machine, the plugin plays at its own speed whilst the audio is yet to be delayed. also: instead of applying delay compensation on each individual plug, go to options-global-vstplugins-folder defaults- ad change all there.

Hi Todd. Thanks for the additional explanation on how sequencers deal with plug-in latency. The global plug-in delay compensation was on by default with my install. The UAD plug-ins are an exception in my case. I had to set them each manual inside of S6PE. There has been no problem with my install of S7 so far but that may have been because it migrated my settings. I'll take another look at this in my next set of videos.
