Sony Muteki XROSSFADE Mini Hi-Fi Component System: Slammin' On The Wheels Of Plastic
Finally, a truly complete DJ setup in one box. The Sony Muteki XROSSFADE Mini Hi-Fi Component System includes everything you need to turn your bedroom into a seedy dance club. There's a mixing console that can accept two iPods, CDs, flash media or any other external audio source. There's a three channel, 450 watt amp that drives the 2.1 system. There are two three-way main enclosures that handle 150 watts each, and a 2x18cm (not inches) subwoofer -- also 150 watts.
Unfortunately, the mixer has no pitch control, so there's no beat-matching going on in this club. The "DJ" in charge of this deck is basically a glorified "iTunes Party Mix" function personified. There is a rudimentary drum machine on board, but again, no pitch control, and no MIDI mentioned anywhere, so the only thing it's good for is randomly layering unrelated beats on top of whatever your audience is actually enjoying.
But the quasi-DJ features don't end there. You can record your "sessions" directly to MP3, without need for a computer, and an AM / FM tuner, for when you finally give up on your pipe dreams and need a professional DJ to take party soundtrack responsibilities off your hands.
The system is available for $499 from SonyStyle.com. . . or it will. At the time of writing this, the system is out of stock. Looks like there are more wanna-be DJs in this world than I care to think about.
