Soundcraft GB2R: GB Series Adds Convenient New Mixer

January 20, 2008
Soundcraft GB2R

Soundcraft's GB series welcomes the addition of the Soundcraft GB2R, a 19 inch rack-mountable mixer that's specifically designed for use with smaller installations like churches, performance venues, or with portable PA systems. It's also a blessing for broadcast applications due to its high quality and wide range of features.

The GB2R comes in two variations, one with 16 mono inputs to a stereo mix output and another 12.2 version with 12 mono inputs, two full-feature stereo inputs, and two group busses. Both models have six auxiliary sends.

The key concept of the GB2R is to provide simple operation on a sensibly navigable layout with the highest performance. It includes the GB30 mic preamp and GB30 equalizer designs seen in the larger GB series models, the GB4 and GB8.

To provide easy installation options, the connector section is housed in a rotating pod, which allows cable access from the top of the mixer for tabletop applications or if you prefer mounting your equipment, you can plug into the rear.

On the stereo inputs of the 12.2 model, mic and line input connectors are provided. Every input also includes a pre/post switchable direct out that's great for recording or effects sends. An internal universal voltage PSU also puts the kibosh on external power supply connections. A gooseneck light is attached for operation in conditions as dark as my soul.
