Soundcraft GB2R: New GB Series Mixer Great For Smaller Applications
At this year's Winter NAMM Show, Soundcraft will be showing off the newest member of the GB Series, the Soundcraft GB2R. It's a 19-inch rack-mountable mixer that fits the bill nicely for small installations in churches, performance venues, or portable PA setups. It's high quality sound and feature set also might appeal to broadcasters.
The GB2R offers two variations. Standard, it offers 16 mono inputs to a stereo mix output. A 12.2 version features 12 mono inputs, a couple of stereo inputs, and two group busses. Both models have six aux sends.
Emphasis has been placed on simplicity of operation, so the GB2R is laid out clearly. The GB30 mic preamp and GB30 equalizer designs from the GB2R's older siblings help make the GB2R sound great. The connector section is easily accessible, too. It has a rotating pod for cable access when used as a tabletop mixer or when mounted.
Every input also has a pre/post switchable direct output for recording or effects sends. It's housed in a steel chassis with special detail given to the individual vertically-mounted PCBs and individually-nutted potentiometers.
