Soundcraft Si3: Digital Mixing Gets Stylish, Functional New Contender

August 22, 2008
Soundcraft Si3 Digital Board

From Soundcraft's digital department, the Soundcraft Si3 is a pretty powerful live console that can go on tour just as easily as it can be permanently installed in your venue or house of worship. It's even very applicable for theater use.

With the Si3, Soundcraft revisited the control topology from the Spirit 328 and 324 digital consoles and streamlined the operation. Above each fader, there is a rotary encoder that changes function depending on mode of operation. This is known as VCS or Virtual Channel Strip, and VCS can be set to control every channel function like mic gain, EQ, dynamics, auxes and panning.

The Virtual Channel Strip also utilizes similar switching you'd experience on an analog strip like 48V, Phase Reverse, EQ In and more. In Global mode, each encoder controls the same function for every channel.

Fast Features:

  • 64 inputs, four stereo inputs, 24 bus outputs
  • 8 matrix outputs, 12 VCAs, 8 mute groups
  • 4-band fully parametric EQ with high and low cut filters
  • On-board dynamics
  • Four independent Lexicon processors
  • A physical output and meter for every bus
