SoundToys Devil-Loc Deluxe: Plugin Version Of Shure Level-Loc
Check out the Devil-Loc Deluxe plugin, the latest release from SoundToys. Based on the classic Shure Level-Loc leveling amp, Devil-Loc Deluxe (RTAS, AU, VST) adds several new features that expand its capabilities beyond those of the original hardware. Devil-Loc Deluxe is now available.
According to its maker, the Devil-Loc Deluxe plugin takes the characteristic heavy compression and distorted sound of the vintage hardware (which is known for creating gigantic sounding drums) and provides even more control and flexibility.
With the Darkness control, high frequencies can be attenuated to create thick pumping compressed tracks. Likewise, the phase correct Mix control lets you adjust between the processed and dry sound, eliminating the need for complex bussing or routing to achieve parallel compression style mixing right inside the plugin. In a nut shell, Mix control allows you to balance the right amount of the Devil-Loc sound with the original sound.
In addition to the Darkness and Mix controls, Devil-Loc Deluxe has a switchable release time for a faster response that was not available on the original hardware, giving users more musical control of the timing for instruments other than drums.
Along with Devil-Loc Deluxe, SoundToys has also announced a special time-limited promotion: Customers who purchase and register a new SoundToys Effects bundle (Native or TDM) before April 15, 2011 will receive the new Devil-Loc Deluxe plugin for free. To qualify for the offer, the bundle must be purchased and registered between April 4th and April 14th from SoundToys or an authorized SoundToys Dealer. Proof of purchase may be required.
