Source Audio, makers of the Hot Hand Effects systems, will be showing their new Soundblox motion-controlled stompboxes at Winter NAMM 2008. The Soundblox pedals work with the Hot Hand Controller, which is basically a motion sensitive ring that communicates through wireless technology with a small receiver plugged into the back of the unit.

The Soundblox pedals will control four different effects: Multiwave Distortion, Tri-Mod Flanger, Tri-Mod Phaser, and Tri-Mod Wah Effects. This adds to the Wah and Phaser/Flanger effects released as original Hot Hand Effects in more compact pedals.

The Soundblox Multiwave Guitar Distortion pedal gives 21 unique distortion effects based on new algorithms. Distortion tones range from standard distortion to electronic sounds to octave heavy synthesis settings. In no sense is this your typical distortion.

In multi-band mode, the Multiwave Distortion divides the input signal into multiple frequency bands, much like a pizza is divided into multiple slices. Thus, individual notes in chords can be heard with more clarity and notes can drone out while a melody is played above it.

The Tri-Mod Wah, Phaser, and Flanger pedals can be modulated using Frequency, Depth, and Speed controls for a wide range of sound. The Frequency knob sets the filter sweep to lower or higher frequencies. Depth drives the effect with an LFO or Envelope Follower while controlling the depth of each source. Speed controls either attack and decay of the envelope or speed of the LFO.

Soundblox pedals can be used on their own or with the Hot Hand Motion Controller. When the controller is used, a subset of controls on each Soundblox pedals is adjustable to suit your playing style.

And just for kicks, here's a video of Herman Li from Dragonforce using the Hot Hand Effects systems. This should clear any confusion about his ring. I guess it's not some kind of Dungeons and Dragons type power ring that was forged by druids in the Dark Ages. Looks like I owe you twenty bucks, Steve.
