Black Lion Audio Sparrow Gets Dissected

April 21, 2008
Black Lion Audio Sparrow

At Black Lion Audio, Matt Newport was able to show us the rare phenomena of a Sparrow outside of its casing in its natural habitat. The Black Lion Audio Sparrow Micro Series ADC may not look too intimidating, but it defends against predators by making audio sound larger than it is -- a useful technique to scare off larger competitors with intimidating price tags.

Matt also explains how the Sparrow was designed and what internal components were chosen. It's quite the lesson in electronic biology.

Do you have any coverage of the mods Black Lion does to MOTU interfaces? How does it compare to the Digi mods we've seen?

Thanks!

I was curious, too -- vested even -- since I use a MOTU preamp at home, but Matt didn't have any MOTU equipment in when we visited. You can find an overview of the MOTU mods here
