Sound Performance Lab (SPL) Transpressor: Hardware Dynamic Processor Unveiled At MusikMesse
A prototype of Sound Performance Lab (SPL)'s new hardware compressor, Transpressor, is on display at MusikMesse this week.
Transpressor is the company's latest dynamic processor, featuring a blend of two dynamic processing techniques in a single patch: level-independent compression and treatment of transients.
Based on the company's Twin Core Circuit, Transpressor boasts low-distortion ratings; standard parameters such as Threshold, Ratio, Attack, Release, and Make-Up gain; and more. The attack and release parameters can be adjusted automatically according to the input signal, much like cruise control, notes SPL.
Further, the compressor's bandpass filter and two lowpass filters allow for more focused compression of specific frequency ranges or instruments. A side chain input allows for external control of the compressor, while a Dry / Wet control determines the balance between the original and the processed signal.
Although the Transpressor is designed as a single-channel unit, two of them may be coupled for stereo processing. For details on pricing and availability, please visit the Sound Performance Lab Web site at spl.info.
