The driver architecture of the Solid State Logic Duende hardware plugin accelerator has been updated, allowing the Duende Mini or Duende PCIe to foist some of it's hardware plugin processing duties back to your computer's CPU. Some might call that "shirking," SSL calls it "sharing."  

Following the miniaturization trend that's gripped MusikMesse (see the V-Studio 100; the ToneLabST), the Solid State Logic Xlogic X-Desk is a compact delivery system for that SSL "SuperAnalogue" sound. With 16 channels, inserts on every channel and professional monitor routing options, you really won't want to look at the price of this thing (it's up there).  

With temperatures in the 70s and 80s in Anaheim for the duration of the NAMM show, you wouldn't think bundling up would be important, but that's exactly what SSL did with their new Duende Software / Hardware Bundles. They're a good way to loose weight and save money at the same time.  

Here's a Solid State Logic problem for you involving the newly released Duende Expanded and Duende Studio Pack options for Duende plugin systems. If Duende Expanded leaves from Cleveland at 10:30 AM traveling an average speed of 65 MPH and Duende Studio Pack leaves from Albuquerque at 11:00 AM traveling at an average speed of 85 MPH, what time will the two meet in Lincoln, Nebraska?

If you're wondering, the SSL rep's laser-sharp 'burns were shaped using the EQ module's "brown knob" circuit.  

Turn "Sledgehammer" all the way up on your stereo and buckle up for the article of your life. SSL releases Vocalstrip, a new plugin for their Duende hardware processor.  

Unveiled at the 125th AES conventions in San Fransisco, the new E Series Dynamics and EQ modules are more of a treat than Rice-A-Roni ever was. Both modules' circuits' designs are taken directly from the legendary 80s SSL 4000 E Console that graced most of the songs on the Wedding Singer soundtrack.  

SSL releases Mynx, which some may see as a glorified box. It's what's inside the box, though, that counts, as it provides housing for two X-Rack modules and brings SuperAnalogue processing to the home studio.  

Brian Beken and Dennis Ludiker of South Austin Jug Band recorded their latest release on tape instead of using digital equipment. It's a whole different world, but ultimately, they feel it was worth it.  

Solid State Logic follows up their release of Duende Mini with the Duende PCIe. This gives users a high bandwidth option for Duende integration with user workstations.  

SSL's coined term SuperAnalogue really depicts the Matrix pretty accurately. Named after its incredible routing Matrix, the Solid State Logic Matrix makes for an excellent control centerpiece for your outboard gear.

In part three of our look at Solid State Logic's Pro-Convert 5, Brian from SSL finishes converting his session from Pro Tools to Nuendo. The end result is pretty fast and pretty amazing.

We check out studio SSL4 at Record Plant Studios where we see the SSL 9000 J and talk about some of the artists who have recorded at Record Plant over the years. Among them are Michael Bolton, Mariah Carey, and recent Grammy Award winners, Slayer.  

We travel to Hollywood, California and stop by Record Plant for a tour of their studio facilities. Our first stop is one of their mixing rooms centered around an SSL 4080 G board.  

We take a look around Mutato Muzika's Studio A, guided by composer Albert Fox. Albert shows us where the magic happens and talks about equipment from a console that Babyface owned to a Neumann mic that Bob Dylan sang through, to a chair that Mark Mothersbaugh sits in.  

What is Duende? In Spanish artistic circles, it is an esoteric phrase with no direct translation in English, connoting both "emotion" and "authenticity." Difficult to translate, perhaps, but super easy to transport thanks to SSL's new Duende Mini!  

Solid State Logic releases X-Comp, a plug-in for the Duende DAW. It is a high-class compression plug-in with features and a GUI that cut freeware competitors in half.
