Submersible Music Releases "Sk8PuNKbeAtz" With Beats From Chuck Treece

September 10, 2007
Punk rocker and skater Chuck Treece collaborates with Submersible Music on "Sk8PuNKbeAtz."

Submersible Music has just released "Sk8PuNKbeAtz," a software drummer pack full of punk, rock, and hip-hop beats from multi-instrumentalist and skater Chuck Treece. Chuck has toured with Urge Overkill and Bad Brains as a guitarist, recorded bass for Billy Joel, and filled in on drums for Pearl Jam, so the beats on Sk8PuNKbeAtz come from a man who knows what he's doing from every musical angle.

Sk8PuNKbeAtz is configured to be used quickly with the DrumCore search engine for easy access to grooves, fills, variations and sounds. Content is also arranged conveniently in "GrooveSets," grouping related beats and fills together for more convenient song construction. Sk8PuNKbeAtz requires DrumCore to work, but it is compatible with all major audio applications and supports dragging and dropping audio content.

This pack includes two Chuck Treece kits called "Big Room" and "Tight Room" and feature Chuck's beats using Istanbul Cymbals, C and C Custom Drums and Aquarian Drum Heads. Further beats and features include:

  • 4 Kidz: A relentless tom groove
  • All Out: A nice basic beat with odd accents, sidestick, and HH flourishes
  • Dark Dog: A cool 1/16ths groove with nice funky turnarounds and HH work
  • Fall Off: Live drum & bass, "to make yer motor race"
  • Kitchen: An edgy 1/16ths groove with separate HH, kick/snare loops
  • Move On: Total punk drive "comin'-up the side of the pool"
  • Raw Thing: The syncopated kick bumps it along, plus nice breakdowns
  • Shoe Gum: Classic "boom-thwak, boom-boom-thwak!" a MUST-HAVE rock beat
  • Tings A Qwon: Sidestick chill time with a groovy, "pushy" hip-hop kick
  • Yaw: "1-&-a-TWO-&-a-three-&-FOUR, the big rock beat that gives U more!"

Sk8PuNKbeAtz is priced at $49.99 - I think it's worth it just by the beat names alone.
