Studio Electronics Orion Galaxy Omega 8 Inspired By Stanley Kubrick, Tulip Chairs
Studio Electronics has released a new version of their Omega 8 analog poly-synth called the Orion Galaxy Omega 8. It takes the basic electronic architecture of the Omega 8, and marries it with the king of casing architecture that Eero Saarinen was famous for.
The Orion Galaxy Omega 8 is an eight-voice, discrete circuit, multi-timbral, stereo, multi filtered, arpeggiating, DSP free "Analog Dream Machine" that WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO JEOPARDIZE THE MISSION. The four-rackspace, 15" deep module features eight voice polyphony, 36 knobs, 35 switches, one rotary encoder and a stereo out for each voice -- that's 16 analog outs.
But the crew-killing craziness doesn't stop there. The voice architecture starts with two VCOs and one subwave generator with variable waveforms. Two VCFs with switchable amplitude and low pass, bandpass, high pass and band reject modes. Three LFOs, three ASDR envelope generators, MIDI synchronizable arpeggiator, switchable glide modes. . . plus when you try to shut it off it sings "Daisy."
There's no pricing info for the Orion Galaxy Omega 8, but with the standard Omega 8 going for $4,699.00, you can expect a Christy's-level price tag.
