Adj.
- austere, frugal or characterized by self-denial
- resolute in the face of danger or adversity
- lacking in decoration and luxury
Considering that the new, $14,000 Limited Edition Spartan Kit from Tama features a badge designed by Austrian Jeweler Daniel Swarovski, and features faceted gems on the shell lugs, Tama was probably thinking more along the lines of "savage ancient warrior" than the definitions I found.
Jason from Tama exhibits the Spartan set at Winter NAMM 2008. He doesn't play it, though. He wouldn't dare play it. Lest he wanted to pull back a stump.

Nice Kit, Ive owned one for
Nice Kit, Ive owned one for 2 weeks now. Some things I dislike however...Like the 8 10 12 configuration,I wish it would have been 10 12 13. The Bass drum is killer but you may have to vent the front skin which sucks via the artwork on it. The finish is top notch. I did also notice the Crystal pattern on the snare is different than the older line of Spartan Snares which is cool I guess. If you've got the cash and like the size configuration this will be the end all kit you'll ever buy!
