TASCAM CD-200: Switch Your Digital Audio To Decaffe
While flutter has plagued analog enthusiasts, jitter is certainly what annoys lovers of the CD and digital audio reproduction. While CD audio boasts of audio clarity, noticeable jitter is so disturbing that it breaks the continuity and musicality of the track you are listening to. TASCAM is bound to sort that out and give hope to digital audiophiles with CD-200, the latest CD player from a reputable company mostly known among recording buffs as the purveyors of the PortaStudio. Armed with a new optical transport, TASCAM CD-200 is out to virtually eliminate jitter from your digital audio CD setup.
TASCAM CD-200 improves on what the best-selling CD-160 brought to the table. Owing a huge amount of credit to its parent# company, TEAC (one of the premier drive manufacturers in the world), TASCAM CD-200 uses its brand new transport, the TEAC CD 5020-A. This new transport is custom designed for audio playback with a smooth loading drawer and decreased jitter. According to Kenji Matsui, International Business Manager for TASCAM, "Like most manufacturers, TASCAM has had difficulty finding CD transports that can record and play CDs at audio speed. Fortunately, TASCAM's parent company, TEAC, is one of the premier drive manufacturers in the world. We worked with TEAC to create a new drive mechanism that could be used in future CD products, the first being the CD-200."
Similar to the CD-160, CD-200 has unbalanced phono outputs, S/PDIF digital out on coaxial and optical jacks. This new unit has front-panel Folder navigation buttons and supports MP3 and WAV playback. The package also includes a wireless remote control with numerical track select buttons. A definite upgrade to your high-end digital audio setup, you might as well check out your dealers and reserve a unit yourself and get that edge over your analog-loving buddies.
