Phantom power and both directional and omnidirectional mics (as well as XLR input capability to connect your own) are just some of the features that the TASCAM DR-100 portable recorder shares with much bulkier units, but fitting the most professional features into a manageable size is what makes the DR-100 TASCAM's new flagship. Buoyancy and a flagpole would help, too, but I wouldn't recommend seeing if this piece floats.
