Call it "little buddy," call it "trash heap", even call it "Arturito"*, just don't call the new Tascam DR-2D a "sound-droid" -- or any other iteration of "-droid" -- or you'll owe George Lucas a fair amount of scratch. Regardless, the DR-2D is destined to become many a recording enthusiast's trusted and loyal assistant, what with it's upgraded mics and unique dual-recording function, aptly described herein by Tascam's Jeff Laity-Kenobi.
