Due to be released in December, 2010, the new Tascam TG-7 guitar and bass tuner features fast pitch detection, a 5-inch wide backlit LCD display, and much more. Non-guitarists or non-bassists might be interested in the other Tascam newbie, the TC-8 tuner, which is optimized for band and orchestra players with alternate tuning scales for period instruments.

Designed for guitar and bass players, the TG-7 tuner has a 1/4-inch In and Thru, fits on pedalboards and amplifiers, and boasts a built-in microphone and metronome with internal speaker. High-speed processing calculates pitch, while tuner modes allow up to 1.25-cent steps on the display for maximum accuracy. The TG-7 offers 12 tuning modes for guitarists, including Guitar, Bass, Drop-D, Open-D, and user-definable scales.

In addition to fitting on pedalboards and amps, the TG-7 has desktop feet with a clip to attach to a music stand, as well as a built-in tripod mount. You can use the tuner as a desktop metronome too -- the TG-7's metronome can be set to various beat accents, and the metronome ranges from 30 to 300 BPM with 7 accent values played through a built-in speaker. The LCD also conducts the beat for visual feedback and Tap Tempo is available for finding the tempo marking for any song.
