Ideal for portable recording of multiple sources from a laptop computer, the US-600 has all the connectivity options one could want for recording out of the box. The US-600 is a six-input / four-output interface with four XLR / TRS combo mic inputs -- two on the front and two on the rear panel. What's more, the audio interface has a MIDI input and output; sports a 1/4" stereo headphone output with zero-latency direct monitoring, switchable in either mono or stereo; and uses USB 2.0 for high-speed, low-latency conversion. S/PDIF digital in and out are available for direct digital connection to external preamps, drum machines, and processors.

The four high-definition XLR microphone inputs include phantom power for detailed recording with condenser microphones. All channels can be passed to your computer with 24-bit, 96 kHz audio resolution.

Each input on the US-600 uses an XLR / TRS combo jack to support microphone or line level sources and includes a signal / clip LED to help you set your input level. Input 1 has an instrument-level switch for direct recording of guitar or bass, and a direct monitor path is provided to allow you to hear their performance without a delay from the computer.

To help you get started making music, the US-600 includes Steinberg Cubase LE5, the latest version of the 48-track workstation software with MIDI tracks, VST plugin support, and dynamic automation. If you would prefer to use your own software, the US-600 supports most Mac and Windows software such as Apple Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Steinberg Nuendo, MOTU Digital Performer, and Avid Pro Tools 9.
