ART's new USB Dual Tube Pre is a two-channel tube preamp . . . and USB audio interface in one. The compact dual-function unit allows for direct connection of any microphone, instrument, or line level source to your computer via USB 2.0 or S/PDIF input.

Somewhere between a simple microphone preamp and a full-on channel strip, the ART Tube MP Studio V3 takes the company's entry-level Tube MP and adds an analog VU meter, an output protection limiter, and something called a Variable Valve Voicing circuit. ART unveiled some nifty rack units at Summer NAMM 2008 starting with the second make of their Pro VLA Compressor. In addition to the Pro VLA II, they've got a headphone amp (ART HeadAMP 6 PRO), a tube preamp (ART TubeFire 8) and a compact power amp (ART SLA4) on display.  

If you've been stuck using the standard preamps on your audio interface or multitrack recorder, it might be wise to look into a dedicated mic pre. Find out how fine tuning more controls can improve your sound.
