Hercules

DJs in need of new gear should check out the new Hercules DJ 4Set, a compact console with two touch-sensitive jog wheels, four virtual decks for mixing, and much more.  

We take a look at the new Hercules DJ Console MK4, introduced at Winter NAMM 2010 and manned by the incomparable DJ Steve. Seriously, we have no one with which to compare him.  

At the NAMM show, Hercules pulled back the curtain on the Mk4 DJ console, a slimmer version of the previously released Mk2, updated with lots of I/O, two decks, and an high-performance audio interface.  

If you're a laptop DJ who's already got a control surface, but no audio interface. . . well then I don't even want to talk to you. Hercules, however, does. The new Hercules Deejay Trim 4&6 was designed to be a professional solution for those DJs who were so unprofessional as to have been relying on their Macbook's headphone output. Seriously guys, shape up.  

If there's one word that's been associated with DJing since the art's inception, it's "vinyl." I don't know where I was going with that one, but the new Hercules DJ Control Steel has the word "steel" in the title, which was probably making me think of "Wheels of Steel," which is more of a phrase than a word, and I couldn't very well write "if there's one word that's been associated with DJing since the art's inception, it's 'steel'," that just wouldn't make any sense.  

Ok, not everyone -- before there is stardom, there is an application process; Hercules is actively seeking applicants for endorsement, which endorsement come with their DJ Sponsorship Package of swag, gear and other goodies.  

Bill Holland is still trying to make things work with the Hercules Mobile DJ MP3. Things seemed to be going OK when he was using it to set loops, but the less-than-stellar crossfader might prove to be a bit of a deal-breaker.  

Bill was skeptical of the Hercules Mobile DJ MP3 when it first arived in the GW offices, but in this video, he seems to be having a pretty good time creating loops and putting together a party-worth-playlist with the remote controller.  

With the new Hercules Mobile DJ MP3 in mind, look around you. Anyone you see could be DJing right now, and you'd never even know it. Bill Holland uncovers this device that concealed DJs are using to hide their identities.

The Hercules booth was busy with the whirlwind of multitasking abilities of the DJ Control RMX. The multi-purpose unit wears many hats -- figuratively, of course. It would be ridiculous to dress a DJ Controller up in a hat.
