Here's a sneak peak at Moog Music's new little Taurus, the Minitaur. Set to make its official debut at Winter NAMM, the Minitaur analog bass synthesizer is quite small (8.5" x 5.25") and weighs less than 3 pounds.  

Moog Music released iPhone and iPod touch-friendly versions of Animoog, the company's polyphonic synthesizer app. Now the app's not restricted to iPad users only.

This December, Moog Music will be shipping its first-ever 500-Series module. The Ladder, a 500-Series Dynamic Transistor Ladder Filter module based on Bob Moog's original ladder filter design, is designed to add depth, flexibility, and that classic Moog vibe to your sound sources.  

In making its new Animoog virtual synth for iPad, Moog Music turned to its existing instruments for inspiration. As the company notes, Animoog is powered by the new Anisotropic Synthesis Engine, which allows Animoog to capture the sonic vocabulary of classic Moog synthesizers and apply it to the modern touch surface paradigm.  

Do you have a MIDI MuRF? If you do, head to Moog Music's Web site to download the free MuRF_Controller plugin, which controls and automates the MF-105M MIDI MuRF pedal from within a DAW. Use the plugin to fully automate the pedal, create save / recall presets, adjust envelope scale and LFO rate, and more.  

If you have any kind of Phatty -- Little Phatty Tribute, Stage 1, Stage 2, or Slim Phatty -- you can download Moog Music's Phatty OS version 3.1 firmware upgrade, which lends the little synths some major improvements to the Arpeggiator, plus other features including MIDI and velocity sensitivity.  

At Wilco’s Solid State Festival at MASS MOCA, Create Digital Music and Moog Music will be hosting the Handmade Music Salon, where a number of inventors will be demonstrating their custom-modded, very hackable DIY instruments. Diminu-titles such as the Minimoog and Little Phatty are clear evidence of Moog's love for compact synthesis. Their latest creation may not have a clever little moniker (I would have gone with something classy like "the Moog Shrinkage"), but it's by far their tiniest to date. To kick start the Minimoog's 40th anniversary celebration, Moog Music has introduced the new Minimoog Voyager XL, a monophonic analog synth that incorporates just about all of the sound resources and functions of the original Minimoog Model D and Voyager.
