Some of the latest products to emerge from the Shure vault include the ULX-D wireless system, new SRH1440 and SRH1840 open back headphones, subminiature lavalier (MX150) and earset headworn (MX153) microphones, and more.  

University and college students can now enter the Shure Fantastic Scholastic Recording Competition for the chance to win a complete locker of Shure mics and recording gear. Competing teams from each school will have to track and mix an original piece of music, using the mics provided in the Shure locker kit. Entries will be evaluated according to their overall fidelity, clarity, sonic balance, and creativity in selection and placement of the microphones. If your team wins, you get to keep all of the gear.

It's not every day you see a small-diaphragm condenser microphone that's side-address, rarer still you see one with interchangeable capsules. The new Shure Beta 181 is just such a microphone, but will it become a legend like other Shure designs or remain forever a lesser condenser? Designed to integrate seamlessly with Shure Wireless Workbench (WWB) software, the Shure PSM 1000 Dual Channel Personal Monitor System is a full-rack professional monitoring system featuring advanced automated functions, RF filtering, networked control, and more.  

DJ headphones and reference headphones will be coming your way this spring. Shure introduced two new professional headphones to the SRH line -- the SRH550DJ for DJ and personal listening use, and the SRH940 for critical listening, studio monitoring, and mastering.

You know what sucks? Mic'ing drum kits. Making that tedious task a little less so are the Shure Beta 98AMP gooseneck condenser mic and the Shure A75M universal mic mount.  

Probably the smallest bit of gear we saw at the 129th AES show, the Shure Beta 98A is nonetheless big news for live drum techs. This update of the popular miniature condenser sports a re-tuned capsule for a more natural sound.  

The unassuming Shure Beta 91A is technically a boundary microphone, but this updated mic is based on the classic Beta 91, favored for its natural reproduction of acoustic kick drum and piano tones. The new version improves upon the original's sound and more.  

Remember when your mom told you you'd forget your head if it weren't screwed on? With four interchangeable heads, the Shure Beta 181 side-address condenser could actually get away with being that absent-minded.  

At AES, Shure and the National Hearing Conservation Association (NHCA) are giving convention attendees the opportunity to get their hearing tested and learn more about their overall hearing health. Free screenings will be provided all weekend during show hours.  

Capture the sounds of drums and acoustic instruments in all their glory with Shure's new Beta 91A boundary microphone and Beta 98A miniature instrument microphone.  

Shure's new Special Edition Super 55 vocal microphone is surely the brightest, reddest one to be announced this summer. The mic features a black and red color scheme, supercardioid polar pattern, and an optimized frequency response for vocals and speech.  

New to their premium KSM-line of studio microphones is the Shure KSM42 and the Shure KSM44a. Both mics offer impressive specs for studio use, with the former tailored specifically for vocal recirding and the latter adept at a wide variety of applications.  

Shure is now shipping its new Beta 27, a side-address, supercardioid mic ideal for both stage and studio applications.

For those of us who might emotionally shut down when presented with the challenge of amplifying an instrument without a cable jack, Ian Anderson waxes practical on the subject of flute mics. Not only flute mics, but mics for a flute played in a rock band in, shall we say, large venues. I dunno about you, but I sure wanna go into a corner and cry.  

Professional quality headphones used to have a limited market in the form of recording studios and other professional audio applications. In an aim to break into today's home recording phenomenon and portable consumer audio, the Shure SRH840, SRH440, and SRH240 have been introduced to cater to today's demands.  

So there's this waiter at my favorite restaurant who's affirmative response is "sure, sure" in a disproportionately high pitched voice compared to everything else he says. It'd be great to have him introduce these two new Shure USB mics at Winter NAMM 2009, but maybe we'll save that for a future video.  

With its ancestry branching back to the KSM109, the Shure SM137 makes its debut at Winter NAMM 2009. This amp has a 15 dB pad switch and a super high SPL to handle almost anything . . . but it can't handle the truth, no matter how badly it wants to.  

We're back at Winter NAMM 2009 where Shure shows us two new large diaphragm condenser mics. The PG27 is the Miguel Cairo of the series, comfortable playing any position a recording mic would take while the PG42 is more suited for the spotlight as a lead vocal mic.  

With a nod to both the hi-fi audio detail of the KSM line and the road-ruggedness of the SM-series, the new Shure SM27 is a condenser without pretense, equally at home in the classiest studio or the dirtiest tour bus.
