Orange Amps

Orange Amps debuted The Book Of Orange, an illustrated coffee-table book that recounts the making of the brand and the history of Orange Amps gear. This orange velvet-covered book is said to be a psychedelic nostalgia trip for all those hip baby boomers.  

The Orange Amplifiers OPC, all-in-one computer amplifier speaker integrates everything you need to make music: a computer with the latest Intel technology, a 500 GB hard drive running Windows 7, a built-in speaker, universal input jack for connecting instruments, recording and audio editing software, and more. Orders are now being taken.  

The unofficial nick-name of the Orange TH30H 30W head conjures images of Norse gods commanding the heavens and hard rock heroes hurling bolts of lightning-fast shredding. Joe Charupakron plugs into the Orange TH30H to find out if the amp delivers sound and fury or if the name signifies nothing.  

More orange is coming your way this week, as Orange Amps has introduced its new TH100 -- a 2-channel, 100W head featuring the best of the TH30 and Rockerverb 100.  

Orange Amps inducted two bass combos into the Orange Terror Club -- the TB500C and TB300C, new 500W and 300W models that combine Terror Bass amp heads and Smart Power speakers.  

Orange Amps wants every guitarist to give his or her amp the gift of DIVO (Digital Intelligent Valve Optimization), the company's new tube bias technology featuring TubeSync. What DIVO does is automatically adjust the bias of output power tubes so they perform at their best.  

While for some, the term "Orange Tiny Terror" might evoke memories of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory's mildly disturbing musical numbers, for Myles Boisen the Tiny Terror Combo Amplifier evokes lush tones and a sophisticated gain architecture.  

Ending all speculation, Orange has officially announced the final price and specs for the new OPC computer amplifier speaker system, which will, as a bonus, include about $860 worth of recording software.

As if you couldn't tell by the oppressive swelter and sudden midday lightning storms, summer is upon us, meaning everyone's* gearing up for the upcoming Summer NAMM. Recently spiffed up for Nashville is the Orange Amps Crush PiX line of guitar combo amps.

*ok, not everyone. . . not even every manufacturer. . . what do you want, it's Summer NAMM and we're in a recession.  

After introducing the Tiny Terror bass amp, Orange has decided to follow Steve Martin's advice and "Get Small." The new Orange Smartpower Bass Cabinets are compact, lightweight, and loud as all get-out.

That pic on the left, by the way, is not a Smartpower cab. It's the new Orange OBC810, an 8x10 monster that's part of the new Orange Dumbassloud Series.  

The Orange Amps AD-200 bass head ". . . is all tube, handwired, and all that kind of thing. . . " according to Noah Harmon of The Airborne Toxic Event. Watch this video if you like that kind of thing.  

As far as colors go, Orange is pretty cool, so having a company name that's tied to the particular hue isn't that much of a burden (they could have been called Chartreuse Amps). Still, variety is the spice of life, so for 2009 Orange Amps is introducing a limited edition white finish for their amp heads and cabs, and at no extra charge.  

According to Crystal-Cure.com, "Orange is a power color. It is one of the healing colors. It is said to increase the craving for food. It also stimulates enthusiasm and creativity. Orange means vitality with endurance. People who like orange are usually thoughtful and sincere. Lady luck's color is orange. I have been told that if a change of any kind is need in life, just burn an orange candle for 7 nights."

That's probably all a bunch of mullarkey, although the Orange Tiny Terror Hard Wired Edition is pretty powerful for a little guy, and it does make me strangely hungry.

 

The new Orange Amp Terror Bass is not only the first bass amp in the "terror" line of portable, gig-worthy amplification, it's also the future launching point for the next British Invasion we've all feared since the Cold War ended. I say we revive the Bush Doctrine, just this one last time.  

In an attempt to lure in the scoundrels that stole 141 Tiny Terror amps back in August 2008, Orange amps releases the decoy Dual Terror, which is likely to lure in twice the number of petty thieves wearing striped shirts, carrying burlap sacks with dollar signs or whathaveyou on them. At least that's what I think this is all about. Why else would Orange release a new amplifier?  

Orange Tree Samples releases CoreGuitar: Strawberry, such a nuanced guitar library that it even features pre-pick noises. In other news, did you know the Monopoly Game is back at McDonald's? It's like they're advertising department gave up this round, so I had to pick up the slack. Expect an invoice with my fee in the mail, Mr. McDonald.  

With so many gig-worthy tube 2x12 amps on the market, what made Ben Felker of Louisville, KY's The Fervor chose the Orange AD30R? If you guessed "fanatical devotion to crown and country," you'd only be half-right.  

Orange Amps has discovered that a bulk quantity of Tiny Terror amplifiers, getting ready for shipping, has been stolen. Be on the lookout for anyone with a sack full of almost 150 amplifiers -- especially if they're wearing a pinstriped uniform, a black eye mask and their sack has a dollar sign on it.
