Taylor Guitars Dave Matthews Signature Model: Matthews' New Number One Guitar
Lead singer, songwriter, and acoustic-guitar guru Dave Matthews of the Dave Matthews Band has collaborated with Taylor Guitars to release his very own Dave Matthews Signature Model (DMSM) guitar.
Based on Matthews' go-to Taylor 914ce acoustic guitar, the DMSM features an Indian rosewood back and sides, a Sitka spruce top, abalone inlays, and Matthews' own hand-sketched designs drawn in honor of his late bandmate and friend, saxophonist LeRoi Moore. On the ebony fretboard at the 12th fret, a crown with one of its tips partially missing notes Moore's absence from the band. The word "Grux," a nickname of Moore's, is inlaid between the 13th and 18th frets. Matthews also contributed a twisting, vine-like design to the ebony peghead.
The DMSM also features Taylor's proprietary CV bracing with a tone-enhancing relief rout, along with the Expression System that provides pure acoustic amplification. The guitar is accented by Ivoroid binding on the body, fretboard, and peghead; a bone nut and saddle; and Gotoh 510 antique gold tuners. Each instrument comes with an interior label and certificate of authenticity personally signed by Matthews.
The Dave Matthews Signature Model is now available for $5,428 MSRP. To learn more, please visit taylorguitars.com.
