Taylor GS Mini, The Next Step In Taylor's Portable Guitars
Taylor Guitars has a new baby, the GS Mini(TM). This guitar is another link in the chain of GS guitars;they are designed to be super-portable while retaining playability. The body style is a smaller version of the Grand Symphony shape. Despite the size this guitar has depth of tone and is made to be amplified (it comes with Taylor-designed pickup accessories).
For many years this SORT of guitar was represented in the Taylor line by the Baby Taylor. Bob Taylor wanted to keep the convenience of that instrument but add to its tone, size and the ability to amplify the instrument easily.
The guitar features a scale length of 23 1/2 inches and a deeper body depth than the venerable Baby Taylor. The GS Mini also has an acoustic pick up, that you can buy after-market. Taylor wanted this after-market pickup to pass the "monkey test"--ANYONE can install it. The ES-Go(TM) pick up is a Taylor designed/proprietary magnetic sound-hole pickup similar to their Expression System.
The guitar has a solid Sitka spruce top with back and sides of sapele laminate. The fretboard and bridge are ebony. The guitar is available beginning in July.
