TC Electronic Dark Matter Distortion And TC Electronic MojoMojo Overdrive: New Guitar Effect Pedals

January 12, 2011
TC Electronic is unveiling the Dark Matter Distortion and MojoMojo Overdrive guitar effect pedals at Winter NAMM 2011.

New overdrive and distortion guitar pedals are coming your way from TC Electronic. At Winter NAMM 2011, TC Electronic is unveiling the Dark Matter Distortion and MojoMojo Overdrive, two hard-punching pedals featuring true bypass, flexible ins and outs, and more.

The Dark Matter Distortion delivers everything from cleans with an attitude, warm and bluesy tones, and crunchy grit to fully saturated lead sounds full of harmonics and overtones. The new pedal offers all-analog circuit, dual-band tone controls, level and drive knobs, and a voicing switch to tweak the bass response. Suiting any kind of musical style, the Dark Matter Distortion is said to maintain an extremely open and clear sound that never gets muddy. The Dark Matter Distortion adds degrees of distortion without affecting the fundamental tone.

The MojoMojo Overdrive was designed to add a crisp and clear overdrive with a rock-solid bottom end to any sound. According to TC, the MojoMojo is a pedal that sounds like an amp, having a very open character and little compression. It picks up on playing subtleties in a dynamic way, offers a sweet and glassy tweed sound, and delivers a pure valve tone. All in all, the MojoMojo Overdrive is supposed to sound like you just added another channel to the amp.

The Dark Matter Distortion and MojoMojo Overdrive are built from the highest-grade components, feature easy-access battery hatches and have small footprints that will make them fit on any pedal effects board.

Both the Mojo Mojo Overdrive and Dark Matter Distortion feature the following:

  • First-class guitar overdrive and distortion tones right out of the box
  • True bypass
  • Flexible inputs and outputs: accepts instrument as well as line level / FX loop signals
  • One-screw battery access for fast battery changes
  • Compact size to fit on any board

TC Electronic plans on shipping the Mojo Mojo Overdrive ($177 MSRP) and Dark Matter Distortion ($177 MSRP) guitar pedals in March, 2011. For more details, visit tcelectronic.com.
