Universal DC Converter And Other Fun At American Science And Surplus

July 13, 2007
Universal DC Converter and Pointer at American Science and Surplus
We return to the hallowed aisles of American Science and Surplus for technical help with that album that Rob wants to record in his car. No, really. If you don't already have weird ideas, this place (and this host) will put them in your head for sure. This exclusive Gearwire video also features invaluable information on at least one completely useless item - but you be the judge of that. See you by the box with the flying monkeys...
Reaffirm the eternal truth that there are no useless items at official American Science and Surplus site.

not weird, just unoriginal

I couldn't remember the name of the record made inside a car when we were at the store, but I found it later: "'65 Rambler" - http://www.popstops.net/vaughn.htm -- This Ben Vaughan is the same Ben Vaughan who did the theme music for "That 70s show" and "Third Rock From The Sun". So he probably stashes piles of $100 bills in that '65 Rambler now.

That 70's Show theme

By: Griffin (not verified)
That was done by Cheap Trick, homeboy.

multiple kinds of wrong

By: warmowski
Vaughan is credited as co-writing the theme, Cheap Trick is the band playing it, but even that doesn't fully explain what's going on. The theme is also reported to be an Big Star song "In The Street". So let's put it this way: while BV may or may not be part writer in the theme, it's Ben writing those multiple cues for that hit show played all over the world. I bet he's using that Rambler for cash storage.
