Interview With John Flansburg Of They Might Be Giants: He, Too, Is A Gear Nerd (Audio)
Set to release their fifteenth studio album, They Might Be Giants are an unlikely pop juggernaut. The duo of Johns Flansburg and Linnell began their musical careers performing with drum machine backup and writing songs about how they lacked a legitimate rhythm section. Their sound has evolved over a thirty-year run from quirky DIY to big-studio sheen to full-on rock band, but they've never strayed from their core principals of serious songwriting and disciplined whimsy.

Flans spoke with Gearwire's Owen O'Malley at length about his love of home recording, how demos become album tracks, the evolving creative process of the band, and why comedy in music is such a terrible idea.
