Free sample packs have never been so plentiful, and most of the new ones to hit the Web this month have been from Tonehammer's Gnomehammer Celebration series. The sample-making company's latest free pack, Luftballon, plays up the delightful sounds of balloons.

According to Tonehammer, a balloon represents a key part of Gnome folklore and is one of the primary instruments used in Gnomish music. Luftballon (Gnomish for "balloon ensemble") contains eight core patches covering balloon bumps, air fills, plucks, pops, snaps, modified squeals, and more. You can play the instrument as a “tune-based” instrument like a bagpipe or as an untuned percussion kit.
