Toontrack JazzEZX: Futureman Lends A Futurehand To EZDrummers Users
EZdrummer gets expanded once again with Toontrack's release of the latest EZX, JazzEZX. Staying in line with the EZX philosophy of utilizing the best musicians and producers for recording and engineering, Toontrack JazzEZX features Roy "Futureman" Wooten, the virtuoso drummer often found behind the set for Bela Fleck and the Flecktones with virtuoso bassist and brother Victor Wooten. Talk about virtuous genes, huh?
Futureman has won many Grammy awards thanks to his innovation on the set and beyond. He's been using sampled drums since 1985, earning his nickname. He's also known for triggering drum samples with what he calls a "SynthAxe-Drumitar." Talk about compound compound words, huh? Nevertheless, the Toontrack sounds you'll get are the ones he summons with his triggering concoction.
The recording for JazzEZX began in fall '07 and turned out to be one of the most dynamic recordings Toontrack had ever made. It all went down at Blackbird Studios. Toontrack credits Roy with treating every single hit as part of a greater picture, which in turn peppers the samples with a unique, musical scope. You can really hear Futureman in these drums, and even if you aren't a virtuoso like Roy's normal bandmates, you can take advantage of his skill with this EZX pack.
