17th Annual Rebeats Chicago Drum Show: Trash Kat Drums Video

June 01, 2007
Kevin Reed demonstrates his Trash Kat Drum at the Rebeats Chicago Drum Show
Trash Kat Drum Inventor Kevin Reed is a survivor of a traumatic brain injury that initially had a world-renowned neurosurgeon doubting there was any chance for his survival. But after a marathon brain surgery (which removed roughly half of his brain) and 75-day coma, Reed woke up.

A drummer since childhood, Kevin incorporated music into his physical therapy right from the start. Over the past thirteen years he has had to relearn how to walk, talk, read and write - and meanwhile he invented a drum.

Kevin's Trash Kat evolved from about thirty prototypes and a lot of patience. Check out the specs and hear Kevin play in the Gearwire video.

Awesome, inspirational story. I spoke with Kevin's Mom when calling on behalf of Special Olympics and she told me about her son. I came home and jumped on the website. Truly, a healing that only God could have had a hand in! Kevin is an inspiration to us all!
